The longtime best friends have celebrated many birthdays together, and this year was no different. According to People, King turns 70 years old on December 28th, and Winfrey decided to throw her an early surprise party. In an Instagram video shared by the beloved talk show host, King is so surprised to see everyone present for the unexpected gathering that she jumps in the air and throws her bags on a nearby table.

“My bestie of 50 years is turning 70 so we gathered everyone that loved her to celebrate. Hard thing to surprise her, O the stories we have made up, the lies we have told to keep this a secret. Happy birthday @gayleking, sorry we almost gave you a heart attack.”

The dynamic duo walked into the event arm-in-arm and were greeted by screaming friends and family the second they walk into the room.

Winfrey celebrated the same milestone in January 2024, but instead of a packed surprise party, she chose to ring in the occasion with a run on the beach. Gayle shared a sweet video of her friend to Instagram, revealing that she specifically told her not to throw a surprise party for the occasion.

“When asked how she wanted to spend her birthday, she said, ‘No gifts, no parties, no surprises!’ Her preference was to sit by the fire with a good book and savor the fragrance of her life! Happy birthday Oprah!!”
