PETA says it sent Whoopi Goldberg a bar of soap for using ‘pigs’ as an insult on The View: ‘Wash your mouth out’

The Whoopi Goldberg War Room™ has received an incoming attack from a new territory, after animal rights group PETA claimed it launched a bar of soap in the actress’ general direction after she used the words “pigs” as an insult on a recent broadcast of The View.

During the Nov. 7 edition of the talk show, Goldberg described grocery store owners as “pigs” in an attempt to hold them accountable over her view that they’re directly responsible for price increases across the country.

PETA hopes to impart on The View host that words carry power and just as sexist and racist words have been removed from old songs, sayings, and fairy tales and are frowned upon in everyday language, bagging outdated, anti-animal language is a first step in understanding that animals are individuals who experience joy, pain, love, and grief,” read a PETA press release, which also indicated that the organization intended to send a symbolic bar of soap to the 69-year-old.

The group also attached an image of the soap, which is wrapped in packaging that urges people to use “positive phrases” that aren’t “demeaning” to animals.
When reached for comment, a representative for PETA tells Entertainment Weekly that the soap is “being sent to her today at The View studio” in New York City.

A representative for The View did not respond to EW’s inquiry about the soap.

In addition to the “pigs” incident, The Whoopi Goldberg War Room™ also recently mounted a military offensive against an invasive gnat that engaged in an aerial assault on The View’s Hot Topics table in October.

After spotting the pest buzzing around while cohost Sara Haines spoke, Goldberg whispered, “There he is,” honed in on the insect, and eventually clapped it to death, completing its temporary hover through the studio.

The View has also done a significant amount of work for animals in the past, with cohost Sunny Hostin regularly urging people to adopt pets from local shelters, while panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin also used her 2023 birthday episode to highlight dogs in need of adoption.
