Jennifer Garner Once Refused to Date After Her Divorce From Ben Affleck
Jennifer Garner once went through a highly publicized divorce with Ben Affleck. And although Affleck has since gotten married to Jennifer Lopez, Garner opted to enjoy the single life.
Garner and her ex-husband Affleck’s lives have gone in slightly different paths after their divorce. Affleck found himself in a relationship with former fling Jennifer Lopez years after their own break-up, which led to them marrying. Garner, however, chose to remain single for a bit. It was once reported by a source that Garner turned to friends to help her find potential men to start dating again.
She’s moved on from Ben now and is ready to look ahead,” the source once told Closer (via Female First).
But Garner herself once shared this might’ve been far from the truth. According to Us Weekly, she confided that she wasn’t ready to date at all a couple of years after her divorce.
“I would not have chosen this life for myself or my kids,” she said. “I would not choose to be single or be in this position. It’s something that we are working through. I haven’t been on a date and I am not interested in dating. People want to set me up and I am just like, ‘No, thank you!’
However, Garner has been linked with boyfriend John Miller since 2018. So, it seems sometimes afterwards, she might’ve found someone worth considering as a life partner.
Garner also asserted that her relationship with Affleck remained amicable. The two were able to come together for holidays and spend time with their kids with no issue.
We will all be together for Thanksgiving. I love Ben … We will be together with our kids and give them a special Christmas. We get along really well and it’s not an issue. We are friends. We can manage it,” she said.
It was also mentioned by the source that Garner went to see a therapist to help her fully move on from her relationship with Affleck.
“The therapy [she and Ben had] really helped Jennifer move on emotionally from Ben and heal her heartache,” the source further alleged. “She no longer feels negative about marriage and has told pals she can imagine falling in love again and settling down. She’d happily have more children too.
If this is the case, however, it seems it will be quite a while before Garner entertains getting married again like Affleck did.
“I don’t know. I’m so far from it. And I don’t know that marriage would need to be a part… I mean I definitely don’t think that I’ll be single forever,” she told People not too long ago. “But this is not the time. I don’t need to complicate it; I’m good.”
Perhaps another reason why Garner isn’t in a rush to get married is because of how okay she is with being on her own
I’ve learned that I’m pretty sturdy,” she added. “I’m OK when I’m in the house by myself. I’m OK when it’s just the kids and me. I’m OK when they fall apart. I mean I have my moments, but pretty much, I’m really OK.”
Both Affleck and Garner appear to be in better places, now. But in the midst of their marriage, they were both going through a rough time. Affleck was going through alcohol addiction at the time, which further caused a rift between the two. At the same time, a source alleged that Garner refused to leave her ex-husband’s side during the ordeal. She couldn’t bring herself to end the marriage until Affleck was on the road to recovery.
“His addictions were worse than anyone knows. Jen’s explained how she had to deal with Ben during benders and blackouts and plenty of ugly arguments. Some pretty incomprehensible stuff,” the source once told Life & Style. “Jen couldn’t just walk away. Not until he was better.
