After Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens received an excused absence training camp to cheer on his wife, Simone Biles, at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the most-decorated gymnast in U.S. history is returning the favor.
Biles arrived at Solider Field on August 17 to watch the Bears take on the Cincinnati Bengals in their second preseason game. To show her support, Biles rocked a custom black-and-white jacket that featured highlights of Owens’ tenure with the Green Bay Packers,
tenure with the Green Bay Packers, his former team. Owens, who spent just one season with Packers, signed a two-year, $4.75 million contract with Chicago as a free agent in March.

The uproar over Biles’ jacket exploded on X one day prior. Barstool Sports’ Mike Balice posted a video of the seven-time gold medalist walking onto Soldier Field and wrote, “Simone Biles should be stripped of all her medals after wearing Packers gear while cheering for the Bears. Yeah yeah I get it, her husband played for the packers and it’s an Owens themed jacket, but this is just wrong.”
The Athletic’s Chase Daniel posted, “She’s obviously supporting her husband Jonathan Owens and she’s one of the greatest Olympians so she gets a pass…but it’s still one of the oldest rivalries in all of football & she’s rocking #GoPackGo logos lol.”
