The Tortured Poets Department was marketed as a break up album from the offset, and given the pop star recently split from her boyfriend of six years, many assumed it would be about him.

In particular the titular song The Tortured Poets Department was thought to be about their public break up.
Joe is known to have opened up to Variety about a group chat he has with fellow actors Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott called the ‘Tortured Man Club’.
Swifties assumed the second track was referencing this – but one hardcore fan has now come out with the six clues she noticed that indicate it is actually about Taylor’s even more recent rocker ex.
